Food and aid for the animals in the earthquake zone

A strong earthquake struck the center of Morocco on Friday, the 8th of September 2023, shortly after 11 p.m. local time. Thousands of people were killed. The survivors suddenly faced the ruins of their homes, without water, food and shelter. Humans and animals were in desperate need of immediate life-saving aid. Just days after the devastating earthquake, our team was on the ground to provide critical support. We provided the animals with food and the sick and injured were brought to the sanctuary of the Fondation Helga Heidrich. There they were treated and nursed to get back to health.
On behalf of the animals, a big thank you. From 11th of September to 1st of November 2023, we transported 4,510 bales of hay to the earthquake area and we would like to say a special thank you to our team, who not only accompanied the transports, but also took on the task of distributing the food to all the animals in need. It was a great challenge for all of us, because the daily work of the sanctuary team went on and had to be done as well.

Happy is a real SUCCESS STORY after the earthquake! He wants to tell his heartwarming story:
Dear Friends,
that night, when suddenly the earth shook, I was very scared. Everybody was just terrified, screaming, shrieking and barking, and suddenly I was attacked by two dogs. I was so scared they would kill me, so I kicked them and tried to bite. Suddenly there was another quake and the dogs ran for their lives, but I was covered in the rubble and left defenseless, unable to free myself. I was very scared and didn't believe I was going to make it out alive. But I was very lucky, because the next morning, a truck arrived carrying hay. Two men found me under the rubble and saved me. When they saw my wounds, they took me to the sanctuary of the Helga Heidrich Foundation. I was on medication and my wounds were treated. I was a brave donkey and fought for my life! After a short time I was able to independently get up again. Today, I'm the luckiest donkey, because I got my life back. I would like to thank ALL of you on behalf of my friends in the Atlas Mountains, who are fed daily by the Fondation Helga Heidrich and all the dear people who take care of the animals and are touched by my story.
Spectacular cow rescue mission ....
We rescued a cow trapped under the rubble for days! Eight helpers were sent to the area affected by the earthquake in order to save the poor animal. Miraculously, our team was able to free the poor cow from the rubble. With the help of a makeshift stretcher, the heavy animal could be carried down the dangerous mountainsides for hours and was loaded onto the pickup truck to take her to the sanctuary of the Fondation Helga Heidrich. Once there, she was fed and watered before she could rest from the strains. The following day she was given medication and was hoisted up daily with a pulley block so that her blood circulation would quickly get back into gear. We hope that our heroine will quickly gain strength and enjoy life afterwards.
